MY STYLE:

My style is different than most because I strive to catch those in their natural element. Those stiff and unnatural pictures always seem "off" to me. I love to catch people candidly, so they speak their true personality, and it is my goal to provide exactly that. I also pose with a natural feel for some organization, so a mixture of both candid and posed pictures is what you'll get with me. I use the natural light outdoors to capture our beautiful California seasons. I am not the typical mall-studio photographer, and I do not provide images that look similar. I dig deep to bring your internal beauty out, to reflect just that in your pictures. Capturing love is important to me.

**For weddings, I will provide the "posed" family pictures as well because I know those are important for most. For family portraits, I will provide unique poses as well as fun candid interactions.

MY STORY:
When I asked myself, "What got me into photography?" It took a long time to backtrack. It was hard because it's something I always thought was just a part of me. I wondered if "anyone" could just pick up a camera and call themselves a "photographer"?  I thought, "There has to be some sort of natural ability to be considered a good photographer, right? And then..."Ah-Ha", my Grandpa Skip Mohatt. He was a painter, a creative mind. And he so generously passed his gene to me. He used to paint in his garage during my childhood and it was always a cozy, amazing, and imaginative feeling for me.

Then, you have to act. I thought about what moved me, visions of my Dad came to mind. He was a photographer. Well, not professionally, but he was a photographer. The happiest time of my childhood was when he took us to great places. San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oregon…he always had that camera. The pictures he took were amazing. HE planted photography in my heart. . .

I started high school at the age of 13, and that is when I took my first Photography class. Back then, we used film and developed our prints in a darkroom. I still love the smell of sodium bisulfite (a chemical used to wash film) So that is where my journey began.

I'm a detailed person. Seeing the little things, catching life that is usually brushed off, I live for those things.

When I look through my camera, I feel home. It's an art, a job, a joy, and at times, therapy. Every photoshoot and Wedding I attend, my day instantly becomes brighter.

Being a sibling of 10 other brothers and sisters and a mother of 7 myself, I know how precious life's milestones are, and my goal is to tug on your heartstrings and make them ache with love with the images I give you. I want to be able to place a memory of your family's lives in your homes and hearts forever.

I want to tell your story . . . and include those little things.

FAQ

Where do you shoot photo sessions?

For newborns
I mainly shoot outdoors and in your home (which is called a "lifestyle newborn session"). So I travel to your home or if you choose outside, locations will be either the Pleasanton or Brentwood area! I had a studio where I shot newborns for 15 years, but as the styles changed and parents' preferences leaned towards staying in the comfort of their own home, I now just shoot outdoors and in your home. I DO have a studio I rent when a parent wants that look so just let me know! The cool thing about booking a newborn session is that you do not need to decide WHERE you want it, until after the baby is born, so no stress!

For all other sessions  (Family, child, teens, grads, maternity, couples, headshots... LITERALLY everything other than newborn)
I have favorite locations in the Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, Brentwood, Tracy, and Manteca areas! I also go to beaches in the warmer months for set mini days. For those who want to travel on a specific day (travel fee applied for personal days, not set mini days) I will head to the beach! I am open to other locations as well if that is something you want, but we first need to talk about the specifics as I have to make sure it will be amazing for the end result!

Weddings - Anywhere you want to send me to!

Do you help with posing or shot ideas?
Oh goodness, yes absolutely! That is my job :) I will walk you through the session, tell you what to do, how to pose, where to look, and all that good stuff! If you have any ideas or poses you want, just let me know! But I will be leading the session and get into my artistic groove to ensure you my best work!

Do you help with wardrobe suggestions?
You bet! If you would like some help, just reach out to me and ask! I will send you some great visuals to guide you along the shopping path!

How much do you charge? Is there a deposit to book?
My pricing sometimes changes, so please send me a contact form and I will reply with an updated pricing link :) I do offer different options for everyone's budget and what they would like in return. Full session amount it due to book.

How far in advance do I need to book?
The sooner the better! Weekends get full the fastest, so if you must have a weekend, I would suggest booking 2+ months in advance. BUT there are sometimes openings last minute due to reschedules, sicknesses, etc so definitely check first! Weekdays are easier to book and to get in faster. But again, check with me to compare calendars.  I do photography full-time, so my schedule is flexible.
Newborn sessions will always be on a weekday within the first couple of weeks after the baby is born.

What time of day do you suggest taking our pictures?
Outdoor photography is best either in the morning or towards the end of the day for the best lighting, especially in the summer months. So I typically start a morning session around 10:00 am and afternoon sessions 1-3 hours before sunset. Seasons play a part in "wiggle room" with light, so in the fall and winter. we can shoot a little later in the morning and a little earlier in the evening. I will give you my suggestion of what time will look best! I understand nap schedules and other priorities may overlap with the best time of day, and that's ok! Let's talk about it and plan it together! It's an easy and stress-free process that doesn't take much time to figure out. I promise!

How long does it take to receive my photos?
My turnaround time to complete the editing and upload your final images is 3 weeks at the most. I typically get finished earlier, but give myself some time for busy months :) I never rush my editing process, EVER.  I do offer a $150 fee for a 48 hour-business-day turnaround. That just bumps your session to the top of my list.

What happens if the weather is bad on our scheduled session day?
I am a habitual weather watcher! I keep my eye on the weather and will ALWAYS send you an email with a notification that the weather may look like we need to reschedule, just to give you a heads up. I will then confirm the night before. I am always flexible if you need to plan more in advance and want to reschedule more in advance than that.

What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
I would love at least a 48-hour notice, and I do not charge a rescheduling fee. That being said, if you do reschedule for the 3rd time, I do charge $150 to reschedule. This is because I block your session time on my calendar and turn away other client-friends of mine.  I understand emergencies happen and am understanding to that.

I am so excited to get to know new clients, keep an ongoing relationship with you, and provide memories that will last you and your family a lifetime!
