MY STYLE:
My style is different than most because I strive to catch those in their natural element. Those stiff and unnatural pictures always seem "off" to me. I love to catch people candidly, so they speak their true personality, and it is my goal to provide exactly that. I also pose with a natural feel for some organization; so a mixture of both candid and posed pictures is what you'll get with me. I use the natural light outdoors to catch our beautiful California seasons. I also use my studio lights for indoor individual photo-shoots. I am not the typical mall-studio photographer, and I do not provide images that look similar. I dig deep to bring your internal beauty out, to reflect just that in your pictures. Capturing love is important to me.
**For weddings I will provide the "posed" family pictures as well because I know those are important for most. For family portraits, I will provide unique poses as well as fun candid interactions.
MY STORY:
When I asked myself, "What got me into photography?" It took a long time to backtrack. It was hard because it's something I always thought was just a part of me. I wondered if "anyone" could just pick up a camera and call themselves a "photographer"? I thought, "There has to be some sort of natural ability to be considered a good photographer right? And then..."Ah-Ha", my Grandpa Skip Mohatt. He was a painter, a creative mind. And he so generously passed his gene to me. He used to paint in his garage during my childhood and it was always a cozy, amazing, and imaginative feeling for me.
Then, you have to act. I thought about what moved me, visions of my Dad came to mind. He was a photographer. Well, not professionally, but he was a photographer. The happiest time of my childhood was when he took us to great places. San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oregon…he always had that camera. The pictures he took were amazing. HE planted photography in my heart. . .
I started high school at the age of 13 and that is when I took my first Photography class. Back then, we used film and developed our prints in a darkroom. I still love the smell of sodium bisulfite (a chemical used to wash film) So that is where my journey began.
I'm a detailed person. Seeing the little things, catching life that is usually brushed off, I live for those things.
When I look through my camera I feel home. It's an art, a job, a joy, and at times, therapy. Every photoshoot and Wedding I attend, my day instantly becomes brighter.
Being a sibling of 10 other brothers and sisters and a mother of 4 myself, I know how precious life's milestones are, and my goal is to tug on your heart strings and make them ach with love with the images I give you. I want to be able to place a memory of your family's lives in your homes and hearts forever.
I want to tell your story . . . and include those little things.
